About Synod
The Synod is the Supreme Court and consists of all members of the Regional Mission Councils. The functions of the Synod are judicial, legislative and administrative.
The Synod from time to time declares the mind of the Church in matters of doctrine, worship, discipline and government in order to determine and regulate its constitution and laws.

We operate in four Regional Mission Councils in the West, South, North-East and in Cayman.
Who leads the Synod?
The Synod is presided over by the Moderator, whose duty it is to open and close each sitting with prayer, to preserve order, to declare the decisions of the Court, to administer censure, and generally to ensure that all the proceedings are conducted according to the rules of the Synod supporting him/her in the exercise of his/her authority.
What are the duties of the Moderator?
During his/her term of office the Moderator shall provide spiritual leadership for the Church. The Moderator through the Central Mission Council shall have the responsibility to take new initiatives and to represent new ideas, new challenges, and new programmes to extend the Church’s expression of its understanding of ministry and mission.

What does the General Secretary do?
The General Secretary shall be the Executive Officer of the Synod and as such shall be responsible for the Church’s Administration. Duties of the General Secretary can be found in the UCJCI By Laws.
How are the Synod boards constituted?
At the January meeting immediately preceding the biennial Synod, the Regional Mission Council shall make nominations to the Synod Boards and Committees as necessary.
Who are delegates?
Delegates are congregational representatives, normally Elders, appointed biennially from each congregation. For the first three hundred (300) members of the congregation, there should be two delegates. There should be one delegate for each additional hundred (100) or part thereof. Therefore, a congregation of 305 members, should have 3 delegates.
How often does the Synod gather?
The meeting of Synod takes place every two years at a time and place determined at the previous meeting.
